La Comblorane 25K — 5th place

June 13, 2022 Jenni Jalonen
La Comblorane 25 km

Just 6 days after an 18 hour day of climbing four 4000ers, it was time to put on a bib again.

I fought against the heat today, and the long uphill which at times seemed never-ending. I don’t know what’s happening to me, but it seems I’m actually turning into a downhill goat 😂

So while I mainly tried to stay alive to the top of the mountain, the downhill was a really fun and fast dance (well, kinda, everything is relative).

Jokes aside, I had a really good day — I felt strong, my ankle didn’t complain, and the biggest lesson I learned is that I need to work more on my mental game than the physical. I honestly didn’t know if I’d be ready to put on a warrior face again, after less than a week of having pushed the limits of my mind on the Nadelgrat. I tried to see the race today as a good training more than anything, and I think I got what I was looking for.

Super fun to have @hollygettingscared joining and sharing the race experience with me! Now time to rest up and eat all the food and get ready for the next adventure!
